Winner Announced

Good morning and happy Friday, my friends! It is time to announce the winner of the "I Do Re-Do" giveaway package, and I am super excited to let Jen Mike know that she is the lucky winner! Jen, I will be sending you a separate email so we can figure out the details. Congratulations, and thank you for entering!

The idea behind this giveaway has inspired me to offer something new in my packages on my website. If you or someone you know really do not love your wedding photos, please send them my way. I am still working out the specifics, but I plan on offering a one-hour portrait session (it could be a Trash the Dress shoot, but does not have to be) in formal attire to couples who either did not have a photographer at their wedding or for one reason or another are not happy with their wedding photos. I'll update here when I get this info on my website. And if you haven't visited my website yet, check it out: www.sweeteventsphotography.com. I have packages for engagements, special events such as birthday parties and anniversaries, as well as senior portraits.

Congratulations again, Jen, I am so looking forward to a fun "I Do Re-Do" session with you and your husband!

"I Do Re-do" - A Giveaway

Now that the holiday madness has died down a bit, I thought I would offer my first official giveaway. I got some interest in this idea last month, but with the craziness that is December, I think the timing was just wrong. Not everyone loves their wedding photos (myself included), and I would love to give one lucky couple an opportunity for a portrait reshoot. Here are some details: the giveaway is open to any married couple within a reasonable driving distance from Vermont, and the couple must be willing to let me use the photos on my website/in my portfolio. I will do an hour-long portrait session at the location of the couple's choosing, in wedding attire. The couple will receive a disc of approximately 35 edited, high-resolution images for their own printing purposes, as well as a matted and framed 8x10 professional-quality photo to keep.

So how do you enter? Leave a comment here (with your email address) for one entry. You can also post an entry to my Facebook wall - "I would like to win the I Do Re-do giveaway" for a second entry. And you can also send a third entry to my email, sweeteventsvt@gmail.com. Want even one more chance to win? Share the link to this post on your Facebook wall for a fourth entry. Winner will be chosen at random (I use random.org) on Friday, January 18th. Good luck, I can't wait to see who wins this fun giveaway!

A New Start

I have always loved weddings. When I was a little girl, I staged numerous Barbie weddings, planned the nuptials of my neighbor friends in my backyard, and pored over bridal magazines, clipping out pages I loved and keeping them in a binder. My love of weddings led me to start working in a bridal shop at the age of nineteen, and my bridal career has spanned multiple facets of the business: from sales consultant to bridal stylist, a little bit of dabbling in wedding planning, cake baking, and florals. It wasn't until I got my first DSLR camera a few years ago and really learned how to use it that it occurred to me that I could combine two of my loves in one career: wedding photography.

So, as is always my approach, I researched. I bought wedding photography books, searched blogs for tips and pointers, asked some great photographer friends for advice. I scanned Pinterest for any and everything to do with wedding photography. I practiced with my camera, spent hours researching equipment. And finally, I just took the plunge. Registered my domain name, created my website, ordered business cards.

I am incredibly excited for the adventure that lies ahead. It makes me feel like a kid waiting for Christmas - and I get to feel like that all year long in anticipation of each unique wedding. I can't wait to hear all of the well-planned details of each couple, to scope out each wedding venue, to plan out fun shots that capture the true personalities of the newlyweds.

So now, I am enlisting you for a little help, my good friends. I would appreciate it so much if you get the word out there - about my blog, my website, my name. Share me on Facebook, email me or call me for business cards. And keep checking my blog - I am going to post lots of fun things here throughout the year like some neat photography tips and wedding package discounts. Here's to a great 2013!
